Tying Up Loose Ends

Two months have passed since I last blogged. I have been writing AND planning, just not blogging it. I neglected this very important documentation of my journey and I can't let that happen again because things are picking up, moving fast and carrying on. I need to be able to reread and reflect on this journey so that I can see how far I've come and how much I've grown.

SO, let's recap these last two months:

Paying off my UMD bill
Gtown opening new campus
coworker problems
exploring alternatives - Nonprofit management
a hispanic narrative
summer hiatus - vacation and travel
work mode in full swing - conference season
Preparation for application: the 6 month plan
continuing to pave a way and discover MY path

What Feels Right: Trusting my GUT - women and children. especially in light of the miley cyrus debacle and media frenzy, my feet are further staked in the ground.

Reality v.s. Expectations: Mind the Gap

I have a friend. She has big dreams, a vision for success and plan to make things happen. Her enthusiasm is magical and she lights up the room when she discusses her passions. What's the problem? She's a bigger than life person with a bigger than life attitude. Well, that's just the problem. She is bigger than life. She controls her destiny and she knows no limits, but what about others? She talks to others and cheer with her, "Hooray!" but who stands next to her at the end of the day? Far too often, she is disappointed, not discouraged, by the reality that her expectations can sometimes be too high.

My friend's problem is that she does not mind the gap. Everyone isn't as high-energy, high impact or even half...as interested as she is.We think, we strategize, we plan, we execute. We don't always succeed, but the point is that we tried. The more you try, the more you'll know, the more you'll learn to accurately gauge your expectations so that they can align with reality.
